slystewart Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 (edited) Was looking at the Lakland 55-02 5 string in black with maple neck.. not sure what the difference between standard and delux is or how heavy these guitars are...any views on this guitar would be welcome thanks Stewart Edited January 16, 2008 by slystewart Quote
Hamster Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 TTBOMK the only difference is a delux has a quilted top - everything else is the same. As for weight, I don't know, reasonably light weight body. I 've got a 55/01 but never put it on the scale. As for a view on the guitar - fabulous bass, very versatile, very well made with a fantastic low B. Hamster Quote
dmz Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Can concur with Hamster, I have a 55-01/NTMB and I LOVE the B-string - being Scottish and wanting value for money - I tune my B down to an A - no problem - still nice and taught. The maple neck version has a little more snap when you really start to hit those strings - the rosewood version is a little bit more mellow at the top end. If I could find an Inca Silver Jerry Scheff 5-string with a rosewood fingerboard I'd be a very happy bunny ! Quote
