jonsmith
Hello everyone. I'm Jon, currently based in London, but about to move to the Kent coast. I've been playing bass for over 20 years and my current entourage includes: Rickenbacker 4003 Rickenbacker 4001CS (Chris Squire Edition) Rickenbacker 4003 (75th Anniversary) Rickenbacker 4080 doubleneck Wal Mk 1 Custom Fender Jazz (Geddy Lee Sig) The basses run through Ashdown amps. I like Rickenbackers a lot, as you can probably tell. Anyone thinking I might like Rush would also be right, but all the gigs I play at the moment are with a Dire Straits tribute band, which I enjoy a lot. I do get together with a couple of other Rush fans twice a month and run through some Rush - perhaps we will also start gigging eventually. I write my own material too, but there isn't much call for it these days. I'd really like to find and join a prog band playing original material. jakenewmanbass
Welcome Jon Geddy Lee was one of my first playalong to influences. You're in good company here Jake
Old Horse Murphy
Welcome Jon. I suggest you hook up with Greeneking on here ASAP. You seem to share a Rickenbacker fetish!!
woodenshirt
Jon, I love Rickenbackers as well, I currently own a 4003s in Jetglo - is it me or do the 's' models sound different to the standard version? Mine sounds different to previous 4001/4003 Rics I've owned (mono wiring?) Anyway welcome aboard, Mart
jonsmith
Thanks for the welcome folks. Mart, the closest thing I've got to an 's' is probably the CS, which is totally different in sound to my other Rics. The pickups are different too though. I know a few people that prefer the 's' version. I particularly like the 's' look on a 5 string.
