crez5150
Overwater available across the UK 10:15, Jan 17th 2008 New Perception series to be stocked by leading retailers. Overwater has introduced a new series of mid-priced ‘off the peg’ basses, which are making their appearance in music shops across the UK. The instruments have been played by many professional and serious amateur players for over 25 years, yet have remained relatively exclusive, with only a very limited number of retailers stocking them and, until recently, most were built to order. This new production series of Overwater Perception basses is the result of a joint venture between Overwater’s Chris May and Pavel Bures, formerly a luthier for Warwick, Tobias and Steinberger. Constructed in a purpose-built facility in the Czech Republic, the Perceptions – designed by long time Overwater luthier, Haydn Williams and Chris May – are then shipped to the UK, where each one is finished and set-up by the same team that produces Overwater’s custom instruments. May will oversee both stages of the process. Overwater Perceptions are available as four, five and six-string models, in Pro Deluxe, Standard Deluxe and Standard Deluxe Plus versions. The Standard Deluxe models feature three-piece bolt-on Maple necks, Mahogany or Walnut bodies with exotic wood tops, Overwater pickups, two-band EQ and a Hipshot style A bridge. They are available in four, five and six-string versions and will sell for £1,395, £1,495 and £1,695 respectively. The Standard Deluxe Plus models, meanwhile, feature more highly figured tops, three-band EQ, a Hipshot Style B bridge and will sell for £1,595, £1,695 and £1,795. Top of the Perception range is the Pro Deluxe, which sports a sleeker body style and five-piece Maple and Walnut bolt-on neck, individually selected facings and three-band EQ. It also features Overwater dual-coil pickups and a genuine machined Overwater bridge. Perception Pro Deluxe basses will sell for £1,985, £2,085 and £2,175. Overwater’s Chris May commented: “The Perceptions are made in a small, well appointed factory, building exactly the same instruments in exactly the same way we do in the UK, overseen by someone who has worked here building our custom instruments and with my full involvement.” Overwater Perception basses are available immediately from leading retailers.
