Amazing how due to the different colour schemes, the RW looks bigger.

Well, what might also "help" is the fact that the neck of the RW is a lot wider than the '72. The '72 has a very small neck. Lovely.

My Steampunk Squier P special with added coppertone tuners courtesy of Alyctes. Now I need a copper coloured string tree and bridge!

Ive been looking for a 2013 made bass to celebrate the birth of my son Rufus. After much head scratching on what to do I fell upon this by accident.
It was made 5 weeks before Rufus was born and I fell for it as soon as I saw it. Ive had Jazz type basses for years and ultimately have been dissatisfied with the sound. I couldn't put my finger on it , I was just doubting my sound.
Last week I sold my very good Maruszczyk Jazz type bass and added some cash tucked away for the ' Rufus bass '.
Well it arrived yesterday and I cant put it down..... I really cant put into words the quality of the sound so Im posting a few pics instead.

Ive strung it with Chrome 40 - 100 strings and taken off the bridge cover..... its perfect. :) :) :)

Like Lozz said, that is a beauty and somehow looks older than its years :)

Nice, I absolutely love the black, black, maple look...I'm after a Lakland Bob Glaub in that look, but I'd need to offload first.

been waiting to get this one together for a while now, just picked it up after leaving with my "go to" luthier/tech man

this was put together to be the ultimate touring workhorse, for gig after gig after gig.

Slab Precision Bass body (quite light, parted out from someones bass who had created a fully faithful tribute to the old fender slab precisions, but then parted it out after acquiring an original, if i remember correctly) neck pocket had been widened for the previous neck, so has a bit of a gap, but its only cosmetic and i kind of like the janky look.

original oldschool (i believe) fender precision pickguard with the metal plate underneath.

Dimarzio DP122 model p pickups, mid heavy p bass pickups - the only type i play
pickups are wired straight to volume (no tone control) and then to jack.

Leo Quan Badass II bass bridge - i have these on all of my basses, this is the type with the pre slotted saddles.

Limelight medium relic 75' style jazz bass neck, rosewood fret board with block inlays and fretboard binding

reverse tuners - i don't think they would've been standard on this neck, but its something i much prefer.

Cheers, it is a pleasing look.

Just a bit of shielding to be done and then I will be trying it out with the band. :) Hope you find the Lakland that you fancy.
