I've got terrible GAS for two more Precisions. A classic 50's black/maple and a Road Worn sunburst/maple. Both with replacement black pickguards. But it's going to be a loooooong time before I can have either.

Silly thing is, it's purely looks that makes me want them because my USA does everything I want and need.

My next Precision is on its way. 1977, in black, with black pickguard, maple neck/fretboard, ash body. Will be a nice mate for my 77 in vintage blond (now a dirty yellow) with black pickguard, rosewood fretboard, ash body. Just gotta wait til next Thursday.

Once I`ve got it, methinks a photo is going to have to go up of the pair of them.

That bass looks great, Where did you get the scratchplate ??? did you make it ?

I may have replied to this already, but I can't find it. Anyway... I covered the original white pickguard with some diamond plate vinyl I found on ebay :) It's dead easy, just need a bit of patience and a very sharp stanley knife.

Happy Friday! I got a Precision today and well .... I get it, completely get it. From the moment I began tuning it, I just got it :gas: .

In the space of four short months I've got myself a jazz, a precision and a fretless bass and the difference in each of them is just perfect. I've bought a HW One Precision that is perfect company for the HW One Jazz - pics tomorrow once there is more favourable light :P.

I am totally happy with this purchase (via here of course), the bass is in great condition has flats on so no need to rush out and get strings tomorrow. I shall now officially be a recluse unless I'm going to visit SpaceChick or the local music shop / gig or bass related outing.

What a start to the weekend. I've two NBD's in two weeks. I won't be this lavish very often but I could certainly get used to it.

:D :D :D :D :D x 1000.

Well done Deb, don't spend too long away from Mr Gilmour now ;)

Enjoy,
Cheerz, John

Will definitely enjoy and it's impossible to be away from DG for very long. Bet you can guess what name is in the short list for the bass

The moment you *completely* get it is when you realise that all other basses are irrelevant hahaha!

No but seriously, congratulations on the new bass and I hope you enjoy it a whole load! I'm looking forward to the aforementioned photos :)

Pretty much agree with you Evil. Irrelevant for any music I want to play anyway (other types of music are available).

Hehe, I know, just trying to be funny :) but for me, the Precision is the sound I hear in my head and the only bass I'm interested in playing.

Here's my '84 Tokai Hard Puncher, not sure what model it is, maybe a PB40(?)
Had it for about 15 years. In that time had many basses come & go, but this has always remained in my collection. It's generally my go-to bass & main one when I need a bass with roundwounds.
Changed stock pickup for a Seymour Duncan SPB-1 'Vintage', added the tortoishell pickguard, recently fitted a John East P-Retro & strung with DR nickel Lo-Riders. Otherwise it's stock, though I've been thinking about replacing the tuners for a while.
The neck is fast, not far off a jazz bass width & with a deep U profile - similar to a 70's P-Bass, really nice to play, comfortable.

Cheers

Here are a few pics of the HW One P I got yesterday and am now totally besotted with. There is nothing I dislike about this bass, and loads of things that I adore. Delighted is well and truly an understatement.

P basses are the way forward from this day ..... here he is :gas:
