pobrien_ie
Here are some more pictures of each bass with some of the case candy from each era..... 1982 Fullerton '57 reissue,
Just lovely! I had a later 80s 57 AVRI and it had yellowed just the same as this. Out of interest, is this blonde or white? You really mind your gear by the looks of things. Just great! Lozz196
Two great basses there Chris, especially like the `82.

Chiliwailer
Here are my two 1966 Precisions. Both have May neck dates and are 183 places apart in the serial numbers! They've both got original case and the worn in one has a rare for period Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, making it pretty much just like my old '64 Precision which I sold when I bought my flat Both basses are very different in tone and equally special. I definitely love the 'before and after' thing going on here! 1966 Precisions - a great way to get the old school pre CBS feel and quality at a more affordable price. Bassman Steve
Absolutely. I happily parted with all my pre-CBS Precisions when I got my '66 as it was easily the better instrument and much cheaper (1953 = £995 and 1966 = £260 - a no-brainer). kevin_lindsay
Can't remember if I've posted a pic of my pink P-Bass? So, just in case I haven't, here it is: I used it for recording last week - at the studio of Wet Wet Wet's guitarist Graeme Duffin. It's a converted building literally 5 minutes from my house. The engineer, Sandy, who worked on the Wets' hits loved the instrument's sound, which was a really nice compliment. lou24d53
I live just up the road in Wishaw and recorded a few demos in Foundary Music Lab as well, really nice and friendly wee place, rehearsed in it umpteen times. Lovely looking bass as well, really cool.
Old Horse Murphy
Here's a pair of matching P basses I my possession. The one on the left is a Mongrel US p Bass (1987 body, 2008 neck and various bits in between). It's been my main gigging bass for years and was a 1987 when I bought it. The neck basically died a few year a back so it was replaced with a 2008 US Standard neck (and bridge). The one on the right is a Fender Tony Franklin fretless P Bass and it is simply wonderful The last picture has my US Fender Jazz in the middle. It's a 2000 model and has Wizard 64 pickups installed. I gigged with it last Saturday and had more comments about my tone than probably all my previous gigs combined!

Old Horse Murphy
I'm probably not going to help Chris I much prefer the stack knob setup to the VVT as it offers a fair amount more flexibility in terms of mix etc. combined with the Wizards the bass sounds great

wombatboter
[sup]Just bought this '71 Precision here on bass.chat... belonged to Willy Weeks. Great bass... very inspiring. Like I said, just idle curiousity. While I'd love to have a bass previously owned by Willie Weeks, I'm not sure I'd necessarily pay a premium for that privilege. wombatboter
I was just looking for a bass with these kind of specs (white with a tortoise pickguard) and this one was for sale... there is a certificate signed by Georges Gruhn which states it belonged to Willy Weeks. The price was rather normal, the namedropping didn't really add to the price but it's nice to know...It's an inspiring bass which makes me play different stuff... that's the most important. wombatboter
Removed the pickup and the bridge cover but although I usually don't like flatwounds I've kept them on the bass..They give the bass a certain "honk" without sounding too bassy.. recorded a short clip with the bass.
