Some real corkers in this thread.

I've just recently re-joined the bass club after a number of years away and finally got a Precision.
Just a MIM standard and completely unmodified so far, but I like it.

And with her older but smaller sister.

I got this at the start of October, a Squier Classic Vibe 50s Precision that I traded a CV 60s Precision for. The scratchplate is new, there original had been painted black (badly) and was a bit of a mess so had to be binned. Luckily this is a proper Squier replacement, and looks pretty good. It's got a fat neck and is quite heavy, but it plays nicely. I'm not sure whether I'll keep it or not though.

I'm in......

I've always dodged Fenders as i like the idea of having something a bit less 'mainstream'. Actually tried a few properly and now i understand! This Nate Mendel followed me home at Christmas...

I'm in the process of having a 'new' Precision and am just waiting for some pictures to come through. Quite excited at the prospect of sharing it! There's quite a story to go with the pictures too! (well, for me it's interesting anyway!!)

NBD!

I've wanted a precision for ages & have been looking for about the last three months, trying everything in sight. I found the one last month & had a nervous wait waiting for my funds to become available - finally received them on Friday so rushed out to buy this bad boy!

Fender Custom Shop Journeyman Relic 1957 P bass. The relic'ing is quite light on the body, just a bit of checking really but the neck is why I bought it - beautifully worked in! I don't know much about the Fender neck shapes but this apparently has a "Soft-V" and it's super comfy to play, pretty chunky but very nice!

I'm not the best photographer & there's a decisive lack of natural light but here's a quick shot:

Dood's a complete tart. Feel free to provide clues though.

Fair comment :) :D  :D :D :D :gas:

Ok, here's a clue. My favourite bass player did something to his basses in the late 70's to mid 80's. This will end up being a tribute model in that spec. Kinda... a work in progress if you will! Rumour has it, the instrument in question is nearly ready!

In other news, I've been editing my Matsumoku made Aria Pro II '76 Precision bass too and will be reposting some pictures of that. It's so close to a 'real' precision that all of the Fender parts I've bought to upgrade it with are an exact fit. Even the pickguard!!! Ash & Maple for the win.

I should have an American Professional series 5 string P bass in antic olive coming to me straight from the factory in California in the next couple of weeks. Can't wait to get my hands on it and officially become a p bass owner. Watch out for the NBD post with full story!

Cosmic....or....coincidence?

I just bought this bass back, 2 years after I foolishly sold it. It's a 66 P Bass.

For the past 6-8 weeks I thought about this bass non stop, even talking to mates about it and teasing myself with old pictures of it. I've had many 50-60's Fender basses, this is the only one I REALLY wanted back.

Then on Sunday, I see it listed for sale here on BC. The rest is history, and here it is now in my home, to stay....

Did indeed, I had bought it on here from Si - 0353203

We could have met up and cut out the middleman!
[/quote]

True! The middle man for me via Andy Baxter was my good pal Mark. Nice that I can now trace this back to Si, who I presume imported it from the US.

Well, it ain't going anywhere now :)

Cheers pal

AVRI '63 and a 2004 American Deluxe:

Thinking of changing the scratch-plate on the deluxe.

Here's my Squier Vintage Modified Precision V. A couple of stray relections in the pic I'm afraid.

As always baffled by the way pics orientate themselves :(
