Truckstop
Anyway, I had incurable GAS for a bass of some sort and flirted with a few G&L's. But after getting my MIM Jazz V I decided I wanted another Fender so I trawled the local shops (Hooters, Music Dpt. (Both St. Albans) and Machinehead in Stevenage) and found that an 80's Precision would make me happy; soundwise and pricewise. So, I checked out BassDirect and saw a lovely looking '83 fretless precision for a more than reasonable amount of money I reckoned. I hadn't really thought about getting a fretless, so I thought I'd better try it out. Anyway, I went to Leamington and tried it out and it was gorgeous! A real subtle 'mmwwaahhh' and a wonderfully fast neck (apparantly, '83 precisions have a unique neck profile). Also came supplied with a healthy dose of mojo, a tweed case, and a leather strap! I decided that I would quite like to buy it and take advantage of the 'take it away' deal. However, after a quick credit check, 'twas not allowed. It seems that being in perfect financial health is not conducive to obtaining finance deals. Mark explained that the reason I was unsuccessful was probably because I rent and because I don't have a credit card. Ah well. I left dejected. So, later that night, I whined to my mum about it and she offered to pay for it for me and I could pay her back over an amount of time. Great! Rang Mark up and asked if he took cheques (he does) and moresoever, he was willing to let me come buy the next day and pick it up and drop the cheque off without waiting for the cheque to clear!! Absolute lifesaver because otherwise I would be facing another 4 hour round trip sometime next week. He also made sure the electrics were in working order and swiftly re-soldered the jack for me. He's courteous, interested in your wellbeing, and very knowledgeable about all things bass!! Cheers Mark Alex

Lozz196
Never bought anything from Bassdirect, but it`s so refreshing to hear of instances like this, where the shop goes the extra mile for their customer.
mattbass6
I bought my Dingwall from Mark back in September and can only reiterate how wonderful he and Bass Direct are. He is always so courteous, helpful and knowledgeable plus the after sales care is second to none. I keep going back there for strings and will be buying another Dingwall from him later in 2011. The shop is pure "porn", I just wish I lived closer but my wallet and bank manger are pleased I don't A truly wonderful place for all your bass needs. Seriously, check it out. Thanks to Mark for being so brilliant Edited December 31, 2010 by mattbass6
Doctor J
Mark's a gent. I ordered a Nordstrand J5 and MM5 for a bass I ended up selling before I installed them. Some time later I aquired a Godlyke 5 and decided to install the Nordstrands, only to find the routing for the mounting screw lugs on the J were wider than standard and it wouldn't fit. I asked Mark if it would be possible to get a cover to fit the Godlyke's non standard sizing. Sure enough, he got it from Nordstrand and sent it to me gratis. Can't say enough good things about the man's service.

Sercet
I used to work five minutes from Bass Direct and was the first customer in the new shop. I was using two different amps (a Fender Bassman and an Acoustic Image) and different combinations of four speakers depending on the gig. Spent some time at Bass Direct trying different speakers and preamps and I now have the Acoustic Image, a valve preamp and two speakers. I think Mark actually saved me a little money.
