steviedee
Bought a couple of Comfort Strap(p)s from the Bass Centre the other a day bit disappointed that they are not actual "Comfort Strapps™" but 'Comfort Straps', confusing I know. Decent enough but.... The original Comfort Strapp The Bass Centre Comfort Strap My next purchase will be a Fender Jaz.... Happy Jack
I have both types of strap - the Bass Centre version is an OK copy of the real thing, but it's a bit Made-In-Korea as opposed to MIA. Given the very small price difference, I'd recommend getting the genuine Comfort Strapp. Trouble is, the only place in London that ever seems to have them is the Bass Gallery. niceguyhomer
I bought one from the Gallery recently and must admit I was disappointed with the quality of it. I'll have to check when I get home if mine's a copy. Whatever it is, it isn't a patch on my Brooklyn Gear (comfort-type) strap.
tauzero
Are they webbing with a big neoprene pad, or webbing with a length of neoprene inserted? The implication in the Strap's description is that it'll boing up and down, which I'm not sure is what I'd want. Also, does the grippiness of the neoprene help with neck dive at all? Happy Jack
Both ... the main section is 'quilted' neoprene with webbing straps stitched into it, and a certain amount of slack allowed. As the neoprene stretches, the webbing becomes taut and takes the strain. I've used my straps with a variety of different basses (P-bass, Ricky, MTD Grendel) and there's no neck dive at all with any of them. When playing I like to move around the stage a bit, but I'm walking not pogo-ing! The bass only bounces if I do. Having said that, I lent my strap at one gig to a much more active (and much much better) bass player than me, and he complained about the bounce in fairly strong terms. Horses for courses. GreeneKing
I'd rate the BG strap and the original Comfort Strapp on a par Alan so you may have a Strap.

Happy Jack
Looking at your Avatar, Pete, reminds me - I was talking to a young (i.e. 32) colleague the other day, mentioned Fat Freddy's Cat, and she said "Who?". No worries. I work in the West End, specialist comic shops abound. I'll go and buy her a Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers comic. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Not a sausage. Bugger all. Nobody had any, in any of the shops, and most of the shop staff had no idea who I was talking about. Sometimes I feel older than other times.
