Don't think it's had a mention, but the Warwick Jack Bruce was also pretty cool:

Something like this. ;)

I had to DIY it myself.

Very cool, love it. I myself wouldn't go for a fanned fret, but love the SG shape. One day I'll own one in some form.....just don't like how Gibson do it is all.

The original Gibson did look cool and modern at the time. Another great bass player who used one occasionally was Chas Chandler of the Animals, although his prefer was for the Epi Rivoli, there was TV footage of him with an EB3 playing we gotta get out of this place. I think the long scarce with the slotted headstock looks totally wrong! Sorry if you've got one but I think the look awful.

After kissing a lot of frogs I eventually found my prince - a Yamaha SG shaped bass, the SB-35, made in the early 70s. Previous owner bought it new. Medium scale, more mojo than you can shake a stick at. It even has a fag burn on the headstock! No neck dive, a tone to die for.

Another lookey-likey would be the Chowny SWB-1 or the original from Stuart Whitley. Light weight and pretty versatile with passive or active versions being available.

I can't say I see much resemblance there. I always thought the shape of that was an Alembic rip off. Or "homage" if you will.

A modern take on it would be the now discontinued ESP Viper. Admittedly, the circuit is rubbish, but it does play quite well. The Warwick Jack Bruce is great apart from the 38mm nut which put me off.

A friend has an epiphone EB0 and there is like no treble at all. The EB3 I played was roughly the same as well, but had a better neck.

Depends what you like.
