They do look like Toilet seats in the pictures but they look a lot better when someone is playing them as it balances their shape. Mind you, they were designed by BMW when Chris Bangle was on the design team so I'm not surprised their visual styling is an acquired taste!

The first time I saw a Bongo in person was when I saw Joe Satriani live for the second time. The opening act, some guy called Jonny A (who sucked), had a bloke playing a white 5 string HH Bongo. It sounded crap! Like it was coming through a pillow! But then Dave LaRue, who was playing for Satch, came on stage with a variety of 4 and 5 string Bongo basses that sounded fantastic! I was sold on them after that!

The whole concept of the Bongo to me is just something innovative like nothing EBMM have made before. It is definitely that! Very modern, very versatile, very very very powerful EQ and tone. I quite like the aesthetics, although the Big Al is more my thing (and thats weird as well).

If they release more White/Cream Bongos, I want one!

Yeah, having had a chance to play a Bongo since then, they really do knock the traditonal Musicman basses into a cocked hat because they can do all that and more! And as I've said before, if you're looking to get a Wal sound on a tight budget then they do a passable impression.

Gut feeling is that it can't be the same one as I'd like to think that Mark would declare the ding down by the jack socket on the OP bass, as it is through to the wood, which would hardly constitute immaculate!

We know it is now but I'm disappointed that there is no mention of the chip in the body that has a chunk of paint off down to the wood... immaculate to me means pretty much 'immaculate' NOT chipped! :)
