fatgoogle Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Ive been listening to alot of jamiroquai lately and love playing alot of their tunes, but i want ot find more bands with that bass groove, sort of funky aswell. Im not looking for actual funk bands like funkadelic or TOP or Earth wind and fire. I was also reading the Neo soul thread and really liked the youtube links posted by bubinga5. Erykah Badu i think her name was. Any recommendations. Thanks Sam H Quote
Roland Rock Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 (edited) Hi Sam, My immediate reaction was to recommend pre-disco Kool & the Gang or Fatback Band, but they might be too much like full on jazzy funk. Maybe Gil Scott Heron http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_b2F-XX0Ol0 or Labie Siffre http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DByyEuYEvc Edited January 6, 2011 by Roland Rock Quote
molan Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Ask BB5 to screen dump the list of albums on his Ipod - that should give you a good idea of what to look out for Quote

Floyd Pepper Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 If it's Jamiroquai that has started you on this discovery then you might want to check out one of the 'Late Night Tales / Another Late Night' series of albums with JK choosing some of the songs that have influenced him. You'll find a few mentioned here plus people such as Dexter Wansel, Kleer and a few others. Quote
