symcbass Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Long shot, but worth a try, looking for a 3/4 double bass fingerboard with or without Romberg level, must be in good condition Rosewood or ebony only thanks. Quote
yorks5stringer Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 (edited) There are sellers on ebay from China who do them for around £50 plus tax to your door or people like http://www.touchstonetonewoods.co.uk/ttwp25.html do them as well, but around £100-£164 depending on quality. scojack Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 (edited) Also David Dyke at http://www.luthierssupplies.co.uk. The quality of the Chinese ones are a bit hit and miss TBH, usually come in at around £80 inc P&P. IanM Edited January 10, 2011 by scojack Quote

symcbass Posted January 11, 2011 Author Posted January 11, 2011 Thanks folks, I'll stay away from the Ebay ones though, the quality of the Ebony is very suspect on ones I've seen. If you try to plane/dress them the grain is not straight at all, nightmare to work with. I've seen a nice one at Bob Gollihur's , just thought I'd give it a go on here first, thanks again for your ideas. Sy. Quote
symcbass Posted January 11, 2011 Author Posted January 11, 2011 E-mailed Klier too, waiting for a price now, thanks again. Quote
fonzoooroo Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 email these guys: http://shop.violinbridges.co.uk/ Their top quality stuff's very good. Even going down to 3rd quality gives usable timber. Quote
