Like it! I love unusual basses, totally skipped buying or owning a fender style bass because they didn't stand out enough for me. However, I wouldn't have had so much trouble selling up if I had taken the popular route, selling my Kubicki was a mission and a half - wouldn't mind owning an another though. I'll never learn.

And another rare ACG in this thread - mine is the first Harlot Singlecut! There have been a couple more made since, it's a design that works excellently as a singlecut.

There are a few other headless Harlots, but not to his spec and this is certainly the only one with fibre-optics so far.

To the best of my knowledge, yes.

Something to keep hold of then! I usually get rid of my basses fairly quickly as I used to be a real GAS head, but since getting my Kubicki and my ACG I've been content! I always look at the ACG and think of how cool it's going to be to have this uber-rare, first build ACG in years to come! I'll be like some old collector who admires his early 80's Fodera!

Hahaha - what he said! Dear me, it is a bit lovely - you should see it in the flesh.

Just looked at the AGC website - the Alembic's nolonger being advertised - could it be that it sold??

As for the spalted Wal - belongs to Walbassist - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=24969

Now if somebody can keep him talking while I "relocate" it..

+1 You beat me to it! I always wanted one ever since I first saw the One Hit to the Body video with Bill Wyman playing one. There's a documentary about the filmshoot for that video where Jagger asks Wyman, "Is that one of the new ones?"

..but did you know that Cetera has a black one - again somebody will need to keep him talking... :) :)

Such a shame that Greg Curbow died. I heard that one of his staff was planning on keeping his workshop open and making New basses as well as doing repair work on the old ones. Sadly, I'm not sure this ever really got going as I haven't seen a new Curbow bass in ages.

Yes, it was he who enlightened me as to what they were. I drooled over that one for years until I found out what it was.

Actually, I sold that bass last year and am now playing Veillette basses exclusively.

This bass is my first love of electric bass.. its a custom Hamer Impact 5 string.. they were £3000 in 1989...they are so rare, and are mega bucks now.......apparently a very versatile bass with EMG's and a Bartolini 3 band eq... on the Hamer foum they were know for there light weight... 9-

from what ive been told, there were only 10 made like this, but with different wood combo's...one had a natural flame maple top, with a darker wood body..matching headstock.. the Hamer tick in mother of pearl fret markers, on a brazilian mother of pearl binded rosewood board...

now that is an exotic bass.

Probably this Ibby SR - Paduak sandwiching a mahogany core, with a 5 piece wenge and bubinga neck :)

As for something beyond my means, got to be the good folks at STR in Japan

Probably this one:

with this very close:

The top one doesn't get much play 'cause (i) I don't play much anyway, (ii) it's heavy, and (iii) it's stuck behind other cases.

The bottom one gets a bit more play but both give me a bit of a smile.

Whilst I'm here, I should say that there are some outrageously beautiful basses in this thread (and others - especially 'porn'). I'm a big Alembic fan but some of the Seis, STRs, ACGs etc., and even the more conventional basses are staggering - we're incredibly fortunate to have such variety and a community of brilliantly talented luthiers
