Asgath
I never really use a plectrum, this is mostly down to never being able to find any of the damn things. Its rather more difficult to lose my fingers. I would definitely benefit from practising the auld plec' malarky though, sometimes its just fun to mess about playing like that. Sometimes its just needed for the music you're playing.
SS73
If you are going to start learning picking, make sure you use up and down strokes.
Jambo10
I suppose there are pros and cons to both, fingers and pick. I myself just cannot get used to using a pick, just can't get any speed or proper rhythm going with it, I have tried, although to be honest, I probably should try it more often, but in the meantime I'll stick with the old fingers.
