Superman000 Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Looking to spend yet more money ! Was searching for hours today to find a decent showdown between the Big Muff and the double muff. Just wanted to know what you thought was best for a heavy but still powerful bass sound ? Or is there something else out there ? Thanks Quote
Kev Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 russian muff > double muff for bass for sure. im not even gunna say imo Quote
ahpook Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 the double muff has the option of two sounds... with the single muff it a flappy growl, and the double gets closer to the sound of a big muff...but remember you've got no control over the eq the big muff has more control tone-wise but is more extreme-sounding imho. it's odd you ask as i as comparing the sound of my little big muff and my double muff this afternoon at practised, and i'm almost going in favour of the double muff with both stages engaged Quote
Superman000 Posted January 20, 2008 Author Posted January 20, 2008 So the double muff with both circuits engaged sounds like the big muff ? But you have more control over the eq with the big muff ? Quote

Kev Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 if you have a passive bass as your main bass, forget the double muff it has no tone control, and it sounds muddy as hell Quote
Superman000 Posted January 20, 2008 Author Posted January 20, 2008 (edited) Im looking for a more growly sound than a completely fuzzed up sound. So the is double muff is better for this ? Or is there something else out there thats better ? Edited January 20, 2008 by Superman000 Quote
Kev Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 there are a LOT of things that are better, it depends on your budget Quote
ahpook Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 the single muff setting is more of a torn speaker sound to my ears and my ears like it a lot ! Quote
Superman000 Posted January 20, 2008 Author Posted January 20, 2008 (edited) Well budgets at most 125 s'pose but it would have to be hell of a good ! Unless theres something awesome ? Edited January 20, 2008 by Superman000 Quote
Mr. Foxen Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 I like the growl from my DHA valves, but they have to warm up and such and change sound when they are fully warm, all the valve joy. Quote
mr pablo Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 there is a tone factor cream pie for sale here cream pie there's some sound clips in the thread too Quote
Kev Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 if he's lookin at big muffs, i very much doubt a cream pie would do him well however.... toasted is selling a pedal in the for sale section that could certainly be what your after, because it sounds fukin awesome, and i want it damn gas, damn bank!
