Grand Wazoo Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Sit down, light one up and read this through! http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/section.asp?section=valve Quote
PVTele Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011
That DP200H looks interesting!!
Funny you should say that - I just had that page open when the topic email came through, having had an email from Ashdown earlier! Wonder how the impedance works out on the DP200H - the SS Ashdown amps are all quoted into 4 ohms as you'd expect, so a quoted 300W RMS amp gives 200W into 8 ohms. Does the same apply to the all-valve amps, do you suppose? Because the CL115 Large cab (8 ohms, 500W) looks like the perfect match - put my '70 RI P-Bass through that lot and I'd be very near to heaven, I should think... Quote
sk8 Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Valve amps wil put their rated load into different ohmage eg 200 watts into 4 and 8 ohm cabs. The LB does as does my Hiwatt. Quote
Musicman20 Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 I think Ashdown have really got their act together the last few years. Very impressive lineup. Quote

Mine souds like.... a stradivarius is being played through it, creamy and mellow until you take the volume past 12'oclock then you'll have a little moster to deal with. Quote
Russ Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 The Drophead combos are obviously Ashdown's answer to the Ampeg B-15 reissues. They look nice. Plus Ashdown have finally come out with a 6x10"! Quote
NoirBass Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Forget the Drophead! Check out the Drop-Jaw! http://www.ampeg.com/products/heritage/b-15/index.html Quote
Musky Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Anyone else curious as to how you can actually 'tilt back' an 8x10 without out it falling over? Quote

thodrik Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Interesting. I still have not even seen the BTA series around at gigs or in shops around here though, and they have been out for a while. It could be a while before I see the Drophead around. Quote
