rockinrayduke
I kind of like it, but then I play T-Birds.

Not sure about the pickups being so close to the bridge and also close together..
7string
Geez do we need yet another P copy... It's ugly, but at least they're trying something slightly different with the Esprit....
wotnwhy
no thanks, neither one does anything for me really. and look pretty overpriced conidering the specs. but then of course they may play like butter and sing like a bird... (a large, fat bird, with lots of wollop)
The Burpster
I think you should get one for a review! Pics look good but then Photoshop can wonders....
Machines
I most likely could get one.. are we interested ?
David Nimrod
I dunno, I just can't see the point of re hashing old designs... Then again, how many new bass shapes are there anyway? And the P/J arrangement... nothing new there either. The headstock looks awful too (blimey I'm grumpy tonite!). I'm off to the pub
aj5string
They look cheap to me, if those shapes were on a bass that cost £100 i think people would laugh at them... But, looks arn't everything!
BigRedX
Personally I prefer the Europa Bass to the Esprit. I see they've dropped the original 3xP pickup configuration of the Europa (mk1) in favour of a rather ordinary PJ configuration. If you're getting one for review go for the Europa with the 3xGibson style Pups. Edited January 21, 2008 by BigRedX
Machines
Have you seen how much it is ?! I wouldn't want to review a bass i'm automatically biased against based on price.
Lfalex v1.1
It's a pity that both the blue label designs use the same p/up configuration. I'd have preferred more variety. The Green label designs are far better, but twice the price! The Europa isn't uncompetetive (price-wise) with a new T-Bird, but £1100 for a P-J and £1200 for a Jazz is steep unless they're really special to play and sound amazing. Then someone will turn up with a modded hot-rod Squier or a CIJ/MIJ Fender. And possibly make you want to cry...

As the info says these are hand-built in the UK. I would imagine that the Blue Label Esprit Bass is built somewhere in Eastern Europe like the previous EU series instruments were. I own a UK built Esprit guitar made when Fretking were operating out of a workshop behind Musical Exchange? in Birmingham. This is a first-class instrument in every aspect of build, finish, playability and sound. Having played an EU Esprit as well there is no real comparison - don't get me wrong it's not bad but it's not in the same league as the UK made instrument I've also played the original Europa Bass (with the 3 split P pup configuration) on a couple of occasions when it was at various UK musical instrument shows. It's a monster in both size and sound. Overall the Green Label Europa Bass seems to be a more interesting design while the Blue Label Esprit Bass comes across as a PJ with an unusual body shape... Maybe you should review both and compare? Edited January 22, 2008 by BigRedX
Bassassin
I suppose I can understand the prices of the Green Label range - anything built in the UK is going to be pricey. The other range is insanely overpriced for Korean (at best) mass-produced derivatives. They'd be fine if they were £200 - as it is, I've no idea who will buy either range. And the designs - yet more re-hashed, creatively & artistically bankrupt Fender & Gibson inspired drabness. I fail to see the point of these, on any level. Jon.
