Spoombung Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 At last, a new Ibanez bass I'm interested in! http://www.ibanez.com/BassGuitars/model-G104 Quote
radansey Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011
oo I like the look of that!
Hmmm, not so sure. Should be interesting trying to find a hard-case for it (and a stand). Quote
Schnozzalee Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I thought I did but close up, maybe not! Its a shame the finishes are so limited. Quote
risingson Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I want to like Ibanez, I really do, but they have some truly nasty ideas for body shapes! This one isn't a looker IMO. Quote
lemmywinks Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I think they've been copying your Iceni Spoombung! Quote
EddieG Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Wonder if they've taken a bit of "influence" from these guys?.... http://www.ansirmusic.com Quote

http://www.ansirmusic.com
No, I don't think so. And that lower horn could be a cause of huge embarrassment if worn in public. Quote
Spoombung Posted January 14, 2011 Author Posted January 14, 2011
That bass is oddly endearing.
You know why? It looks wounded and crippled hobbling along on it's one leg. Quote

The Ibby looks like someone's given it some thought, while that other thing looks like someone shut their eyes & pressed random buttons on a CNC machine for a laugh. I like these new Ibbys - anyone know what they're going to cost? Jon. Quote
Doctor J Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I don't know why but I like the look of that new Ibby. Quote
Spoombung Posted January 15, 2011 Author Posted January 15, 2011
Aye, thought you'd like them Eude
Yes, I'm very predictable. I want one in blue, though. Quote
Chris2112 Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 If they had thought of a better bottom horn design I'm sure it'd look a lot better. Quote

Haha saw these on Ibanezs facebook last year, when they were only prototypes, someone posted a link on here i think? Quote
Bassassin Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Have to say, the more I look at it, the more I like it. (I do think it's good! ) Hope it doesn't weigh a ton. J. Quote
cocco Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Surely you're all joking? It's a dog! I agree that it looks melted though, anyone else detecting a hint of Vigier around the horns? Quote
Grand Wazoo Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 It would be interesting to see how that lower horn would dig on your leg when playing sitting down, which is one of the problem that for instance a Bongo has, the lower horn on the Bongo really does dig and hurts, I should imagine the one on that new Ibanez to be worse. The Bongo is digging in because the leg curve is shallow and there is tendency to pull the bass backward which means you're trying to balance the bass on the horn - which will hurt, of course. That is impossible on the Grooveline because of the depth of the leg curve. Quote

AndyTravis Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 They're interesting, but about £1700 i think. Thy look like some of Carey Norstrands non-Jazz like instruments, which is interesting as there are some new SR 'Premium' models with Nordstrand fat singles on them, and Nordstrand Eq's, for about £850, which look fantastic.
