Pete Academy
Sorry to bring him up again, but this clip shows Victor on tour with his drummer, JD Blair, doing a solo show. This is just amazing playing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7u3hwTjClZA

The man is showing us the way forward - doing what Stanley and Markus have been doing since the 80s and pushing at the boundaries of bass playing. If you get the chance get to one of the Hartke seminars - we saw him at Digital Village last year - inspirational!! Anybody looking for a new bible - get a copy of "The Bass Lesson" by Mr Wooten. Looking for "must have" listening - "Thunder" by SMV. Probably preaching to the converted...
OliverBlackman
I would like to see more clips of him playing fingerstyle. As i can't do the double thumb tihng yet it'd be nice to relate with what he's doing. Also when he does it sounds fantastic
I think he's absolutely awesome! He seems to be a great all-rounder too - not just a soloist but he can really groove in a band context too. When I first bought 'A show of hands' I couldn't believe that there were no overdubs... Pete Academy
I honestly think he's the world's number one player, not just with bass, but as an inspiring musician. The guy is unique and extraordinary.
funkyhobbit
I was lucky enough to see him with Bela Fleck in Glasgow a couple of years ago. Blown away by his melodic supportive finger style bass playing. Every bit awesome as his slap playing. He truly is an amazing musician of many facets. Advise anyone to get a hold of the DVD " Bela Fleck live at the Quick"
purpleblob
I think "Victa" is an incredible musician. The problem is there's so many youtube clips of him messing around or doing the pyrotechnics like the two handed stuff or fast slapping that people simply associate him with the flash side of playing bass, whereas on the various albums, whether solo or with Bela Fleck the guy simple knows how to play bass. Tech
He was on fire at the barbican last year, especially playing with such an established bunch of musicians all over. A very talented musician and a great showman.
