Tait
Has anyone seen this yet? It looks pretty cool, but honestly I'd rather pay less and get the Mike Dirnt. They're pretty much the same, anyway, by the looks of it. 51 P shape, with a Precision pickup. Al Heeley
Go on Fender - release something new for a change - just once - please!
Cat Burrito
It's come up on a couple of threads to very mixed opinions.
Tait
To be fair, now I think about it, it's not that useless. I mean for instance, I can see my dad getting one. He's always said he'd like a Mike Dirnt but doesn't like rosewood fretboards. Well this has sorted that problem out for him! But even so, it would be nice to see something more original from them. The last really original bass fender brought out was, IMO, that guy from Alien Ant Farm's signature bass, and they only did that for like 6 months. Schnozzalee
Threads already done twice before but your on the money with the Mike Dirnt Sig

StevieD_FenderP2009
I'd really like it if it didnt have the pickguard on it. they should of left that off. Better headstock than the original '51 P too
Lozz196
I like it, although it is like a Mike Dirnt, though with a few differences. Thing I don`t get, is its a mix-match of both 1st & 2nd generation Precisions. The split pickup and headstock on this model were introduced in 57, if I`m correct, so putting them on a 60th Anniversary in 2011 is a bit previous in my opinion. Whilst I like the bass on its own merits, I don`t think it really reflects a 60th Anniversary edition, but then, they discontinued the 51 Reissue (maybe to put this one out?). stingrayPete1977
I guess their take on it would be it's 60 years of the precision bass in all it's guises rather than a 60 anniversary ri of the 51 model if you know what I mean. FWIW I prefer the 57ri.
hillbilly deluxe
Lets have a look in the parts bin,we need another Anniversary model.
stingrayPete1977
I was having a "it's Saturday morning let's not be cynical and start the weekend positive" moment, in hindsight parts bin raid is a better description
hillbilly deluxe
Are Fender and Harley Davidson the same company ? or just both taking the p!ss ? God help us if they find some old Katana parts under the bench. Edited January 22, 2011 by hillbilly deluxe
Spike Vincent
Ugly. But I doubt there's a left handed option so I can ignore it.
Davo-London
Yet again Fender do a a replica model and don't get it right! It makes no sense they have created a frankenstein bass?? Why do they do that? Fender seriously need to take a good look at themselves. Davo
krispn
A few years ago Squier discontinued the '51 guitar as it was being snapped up by the mod-ing guys. It was too good for the money was the general consensus - It looks like they have just made a bass version as their anni model. A combination of lots of different features I'd rather have a USA '11 P bass with the 60th neck plate. hillbilly deluxe
Taken on it's own merits,i think it is a great looking bass,it would look better with a Telecaster style headstock,to me.
