BigRedX Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 (edited) Looking for one of those guitar rack/stand thingys to hold my basses when I gig. I need space for at least 4. Does anyone have a particular favourite? Must be able to cope with reasonably asymmetrical body shapes (eg TBird type) as well as more normal ones. Looking at this one. Anyone have one? Opinions? Anything better? Ta Edited January 22, 2008 by BigRedX Quote

Do you have any of those yourself. I'm really looking for user experiences/problems, ease of construction when in a hurry, durability etc... Quote

Anyone have one? Opinions? Anything better?
I've got one, though I don't use it for gigging. It works. However, it does require a bit of care when putting an asymmetric bass on it (ironically, my Warwick Thumbs among them) as the rubbery bits are quite grippy, so the bass doesn't slide on them (not even with an oiled finish). So the way the bass is leaning when you put it into the stand is the way it will stay leaning. Plus I don't think you can leave basses plugged in if they've got edge mounted sockets (I'd have to check that though). Does keep the footprint small having them racked that way round, as opposed to having multiple A-stands on stage. You just need practice putting basses into the stand. Why don't you get a bass version of this instead? Quote
john_the_bass Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 i've got one (the 7 guitar stand - hell it was cheap!) and i've taken it gigging. I've fitted all of the bands guitars on it and found that i can usually put it somewhere within easy reach. Quote
