Matte_black Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Well, the Marshall wasn't as warm sounding as the SVT2 (non pro) I had in the same period. I liked the SVT more but the VBA had a lot more volume. So a comparison could help. The Marshall tone stack is almost useless
Stuee Posted September 4, 2012 Author Posted September 4, 2012 Sorry I can't help with that Matte. I have someone coming round this evening for a look, but I'll let you know if nothing happens and maybe we could sort out an audition sometime. Cheers, Stuee
Matte_black Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 I'm a bit too far away for a live audition...
harmonator Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Are you sure those are Partridge transformers? I thought Partridge was defunct, so I emailed the manufacturer to ask, but they were less than helpful!
Mr. Foxen Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Its either a new place licencing the name, much like 'Hiwatt' or the 'Partridge Designed' with the 'designed' really small.
Stuee Posted September 4, 2012 Author Posted September 4, 2012 Ah yes you're absolutely right. I just copied and pasted the info from an online source (can't remember where but it looked like good info). Anyway, they are indeed 'Partridge designed', as quoted here: http://www.hiwatt.co.uk/prod_details.aspx?pid=52&cid=12
Matte_black Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 I've owned a "Fane era" Hiwatt Bass 100 and it was extremely loud... probably louder than the SVT2 Non-pro I had in the same period. Can only guess what a beast this must be...
