Ancient Mariner
I've been offered on at a decent price, but I've a feeling it's actually the PL100 guitar combo, and not the bass amp (I haven't seen it yet). Can't find much info on the net about it - does anyone know if they actually made a 100watt bass combo in the 80s/ear;y 90s and if it was any good. Hot Tub
Try looking up the old Linebacker series. Pretty sure there was a 100w job in there....? Edit: Yup. Laney Pro-Linebacker PL-100 Bass. There's a few images on google. Edited January 24, 2011 by Hot Tub
Cat Burrito
The Linebackers were around that time (I was in Sixth Form late 80s early 90s). They had a poor reputation but a friend of mine who was regarded as a good bassist at the time had one and swore by his.
Ancient Mariner
Thanks guys. I did try google, but it didn't turn up anything that I could distinctly recognise as what I thought it should be. I'll give it another go in a mo. Lozz196
I had a Laney Linebacker, from 87 - mid 90s. Can`t remember the wattage, but was the 1x15 model, prob 150 watts? Did many a gig with it, and not one single bit of trouble. And, as we were a punk band, I used to really push that amp.

Ancient Mariner
I'd really like that DP150 that's up for sale in the classified, but can't spring the extra 30 quid.

markstuk
My son has a Linebacker 65 (I think) combo.. Yes, I'm embarrassed to admit he's a guitard.. Must be 20 years old and works fine even with idiot teenagers abusing it.. :-)

I normally use an SVT 6 pro for gigging so can't really compare gigging wise but for practice it does what it says on the tin. It's got loads of power, more than enough to be heard above our loud drummer and guitarist and sounds ok.
brilave
Still got my 120W Hardcore combo..
David B
I still play through Laney Linebacker combos (75 watt bass amp and 30 watt guitar combo). Owned them for decades. Solid sound, built like tanks. Bass combo is extremely heavy but I keep it in the garage and my son’s band use it for band practice.
JPJ
Most Laney’s feature good old fashioned British watts, not those puny American/European watts. I had a Laney G120 1x15 combo that was basically a copy of a Trace Elliot GP preamp. Great little combo, heavy but loud enough to gig with back then. Avoid the Richter versions as the got terrible press for being underpowered fart machines.
