Raslee
What the hell, Navy with Maple just ordered.
Thats the spirit. FWIW i saw a maple necked P on a red body yesterday in the Exmouth Devon branch so the maples are out there. Think i would have prefered maple but i'm happy with my rosewood on my sonic. Also as an update gave it a thrashing earlier through my amp, stonking i'd say although my tone pot seems pretty useless. Am thinking of getting a tort plate if anyone can recommend one that fits? gafbass02
My tone pot works brilliantly, and they have a really solid feel with a positive action. For me the downside (other than it's a P lol) is the neck is huge, and the fingerboard very flat. But utterly cool nonetheless.
allighatt0r
If you want a Navy with a maple neck then act fast! The word of Sue Ryder says:
I can put a request in with the warehouse but it appears most of the stock left have rosewood fretboards. I will let you know.
gafbass02
Hah hah. Ace :-D it's pretty fat in all dimensions. My penis I mean And the neck

Ace :-D it's pretty fat in all dimensions.
Yep, pretty fat for me, used to playing a Geddy Lee Jazz. White one arrived on Parcelforce 24. Sue Ryder replied to my email saying that they would make sure it had a bag and cable. Slackened the truss rod, adjusted the saddles, new EB slinky strings, quite a lot of adjustment for the intonation, adjusted the p/u height, ferrules too small for the EB ends, still a good bass for the money. Good fun noodling was had by me! Wife wasn't so keen tho'.
ben604
Just got this response from my Maple board request:
I will change the delivery address but not sure if there are any maple fretboards left. I will request one but if there are none, would you like to proceed with the order?
Fingers crossed!
mcnach
Not looking good for the maple brigade anymore:
Thank you for your message. I have been told by the warehouse that we do not have any bass guitars left with maple fingerboards. Regards Ilga
Metalmoore
I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have a sonic blue ryder willing to swap it for maybe another colour, i am willing to pay the sixty quid for it so you can replace it with another one? Quite fancy another one in blue to mod into a P body with 2 jazz pups. But i think my chances are slim
Dave Vader
White tele got here at lunchtime. Seems alright, setup was not as way off as you'd expect. Came with "lead" and allen keys, no case, no strap. Fine by me, seems pretty well put together after 5 minutes of strumming before coming back to work. Will report later after plugging it into the vox and seeing what comes out.

allighatt0r
If mine doesn't have a maple board I can use that as an excuse to change the neck.

mcnach
Arrived home to find a note from Parcel Force. The bass is here! Amazingly, rather than taking it back to their depot they took it to my local post office Unlikely I'll have time tomorrow to get it... but Friday at the latest it'll be in my hands. Time to buy strings yet!
Bankai
What's the big fuss over Maple? Surely they'll just be the same but a different colour!

You can just about make it out on one of the photos I posted a few pages back.
Dave Vader
Tele update... Still haven't plugged it in, but, can confirm, frets are crappy little mandolin frets, will probably wear out in a week, and feel weird. Volume pot was spinning so went to take the knob off and tighten it up, and it turned out the knob wasn't glued to it's plastic base properly. So swapped it out, job done. Will hopefully find time to plug in tonight. Might be a nice base to learn how to refret properly....
apa
Got mine yesterday, only a couple of minutes play but, well, it sounds like a £60 Bass! The strings realy are crap so a new set may make a big difference. The finish is OK. Not sure wether to get another one to mod and keep this one orig. The neck is very nice though. Worth the money just for that! The worst thing is the pup cavity and fitting. A bit random!! New pups and strings should see her right. Im pleased with it over all. Ill give it a week and if theres any left I may get another to butcher Oh and her name? SUZIE of course A Edited February 3, 2011 by apa

Generally the feedback has been good with only a couple of people reporting bad experiences. I was planning on a tele but I'm now worried it'll not be worth the £59, what to do... If not, for those of us who like tinkering, it's another excuse to indulge. As long as structurally is alright... I think it's worth it as a semi-blank canvas. But if I want a trouble free guaranteed good instrument, I'd be looking at a Squier or some other ceap but decent brand (Westfields are great value as far as I can tell, among others)
