Clarky
I have Silver Slaps on my DB which I love but they don't have quite the same feel or resonance on my Eminence EUB. I had previously owned an Aria EUB with Presto Nylonwounds in light gauge and they felt very nice under the fingers, if fairly bulky (despite being 'light' gauge). So has anyone tried the Prestos in the Ultralight gauge? If so are they too skinny/floppy and how is the tone for pizz (I don't bow)? Thanks Clarky Here's the stats http://presto-strings.com/doublebass.html
Clarky
So that will be a 'no' then? Just don't want to fork out a small fortune to find out these are wrong and then (in my usual style) sell at a huge loss!

Dr Phibes
I have used them. Found the E to be quite floppy, but it still gave a decent enough tone and sustain when compared to wackers or plain guts - but not as good as silverslaps. Also found the slap to be quite plasticy and unpleasant sounding to my ears. They have the obvious advantage of working with a mag pickup, so if this were key I'd go for it; if not then I'd personally stick with the slaps. My Eminence has a piezo pickup so there would be no benefit on that front. Sounds like I would be well advised to stick with Silver Slaps - will also save me money!!!! PaulKing
Ultralights have a decent enough tension if you're used to low. Tone and tension is very similar to Silverslaps, but yes the slap click is subtly different, a bit more mid rangey and plasticky maybe. Overall, I prefer Silverslaps, though I think Prestos are much better made.
