ken
Hi need help on this one please. Play a fretless with rotosound half pounds . These strings are set low and have two big plusses. The output is much louder and the playabillity is the best I've ever had .the downside is that there is a fair bit of noise ie like fret buzz and some ringing but none of this comes out through the amp. Is it possible to have one without the other or is the noise the price you pay for easier playing . Cheers
spinynorman
I'm intrigued by the idea of fret buzz on a fretless. The question is how much it really bothers you. If the audience can't hear it I tend not to worry.
fatback
Is it lined? If it is, does it buzz when you play in between the 'frets' or just on top? If only on top of the marker, the fret marker inlays may be raised a fraction. I've had that on a VMJ, and it was very annoying. Sanded it down easy enough though. charic
Is it at the nut, bridge or on the fretboard?

Might be the rod possibly but intonation fine so think i agree with you. There was a time when the slightest noise bothered me but seem to be getting less concerned as long as getting desired result.cheers
SteveK
Fretted or fretless, if you set the action too low you will get rattles and buzzes and may notice a deadening of the note. The ringing could well be the truss rod. I've had it in the past on a couple of basses. A slight adjustment may fix that. If it only happens on open strings check that the string is located in the nut properly and that there is a reasonable angle over the nut.
