spinynorman
I bought a set of these from Stringbusters. It says on the packet to take extreme care when stringing the bass as the materials are delicate. Which makes me think they won't last five minutes with a pick? Does anyone have any experience with them?
Cat Burrito
I mainly play with fingers but I strung my bass with Rotosound black nylons for the recording of our last album. I used a pick on a couple of tracks. There were no obvious problems with the string life from what I could tell (& I played them a lot). However the tuning tended to fluxuate a bit if I dug in hard. lemmywinks
I tried a set on my acoustic when Stringbusters first started stocking them (they were dirt cheap back then!). Very long lasting and durable like most black nylons, i preferred them to the Rotos and they were cheaper at the time. I see they're quite pricey nowadays though! spinynorman
A lot of prices seem to have wound up recently, even Rotosound is a bit of a deep breath before buying, and I used to find their prices reasonably painless. My worry with the Galli blacks is I'll put them on and the pick will wreck the coating in five minutes. Guess I'll just have to try and see. I tried some DR Black Beauties, and the pick took some black off the G pretty quickly. They don't seem that much different to rounds, at least in feel, and I'm too used to flats.
