Horses for courses.

I've had my mate's Stingray ebony-boarded fretless 5 on loan for ages and I just don't like it. The pickup's in the wrong place, it's overly aggressive sounding and the preamp is all or nothing. Nice B though.
I have uummmmed & rrrrrrrrrrddd about selling my stingray 5 sevral times and now realised how much I love the SR 5 bass.

So much so that i would love to get another SR5 in white with matching headstock :)

Trapped GAS is a terrible thing :)
ive come and ive gone..i will always be a Jazz man..but the tone and feel of a Stingray 5 just gets me..its the quality, tone, weight, narrow neck... Randy 'Hope' Taylor plays one on a certain album and it sounds so good.. although not a truely versatile bass, it covers lots...

Nice to see her back home B, say hello for me. Hoping to get mine back from Mr Shuker this weekend, this has been a long month.

My Stingray was the best bass I had apart from what I have now..so a 5 er was always an option.
I fancied a rich red or cherry burst with white plate but never got round to finding one.

I don't think the typical MM sound would suit me now...so have stopped looking. I must get hold of one
to put my mind/lust at bay. I doubt I'll get one though...unless I find they don't sound like MM anymore..!!

Those pics are getting there, tho...:)

But for the screw-holes from the old scratchplate and a mildly ill-conceived control plate, that actually looks suitably nice. At least it's different, and shows off the 'Ray 5s best aesthetic feature- The symetrical bottom- rather well.
