robocorpse Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 OK, so they look great and will go down a storm live, but has anyone actually tried these? I'm double-loathe to drop the money on a set as they only come in 45-105, and I'm a '40s man (DR say they have no immediate plans to do other gauges) Quote
spinynorman Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 (edited) I tried some Black Beauties and some of the black came off pretty quickly with a pick, though not enough to make a difference visually. Haven't tried Neons though. The BBs didn't seem that different to standard roundwounds, but then I mostly use flats. Edited January 28, 2011 by spinynorman Quote
BottomEndian Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=109677 and http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=111397 In a nutshell, they sound nice and look crazy. The coating's supposed to be much more hard-wearing than the previous generation of coloured strings too. Quote

DolganoFF Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 I have a set of green hi-def neons on one of my basses since one week. These strings are strange: very rough feeling under the fingers, won't slide easily. Like if the coating had some invisible grit in it. Sound is good however, slightly muffled highs but still very articulate. Quote
