Clarky Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 (edited) Amazing nick for a 42 year old bass Edited January 28, 2011 by Clarky Quote
Happy Jack Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 The date stamp and serial number on the neck base are disfigured but the last 2 digits on the date stamp are 69, indicating its year of manufacture. Really? I mean, REALLY? Quote
Truckstop Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 My Jazzes were made in '13 and '21 in which case. 10k each sound reasonable to you? Truckstop Quote
Hobbayne Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 must be true then, you cant lie on ebay about things like that!! Quote
Cat Burrito Posted January 28, 2011 Author Posted January 28, 2011 On the plus side my 62RI is a 1963 original! Sweet! Quote
EssentialTension Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 (edited) I'm not convinced it is a '69 but he doesn't say the last two digits of the serial number. He says the last two digits of the date stamp on the base of the neck which would indicate year of neck manufacture - although the last two 'digits' would actually be the last number of the year and the letter for the neck width. Clarky Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Looks like a honey blonde Highway One P body with a 62RI (or more likely copy 62RI) neck. Could explain date stamp Quote
Ou7shined Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 The way the "slight friction rubbing" has come out stripy across the width kinda looks to me like there's ply under there. Quote

Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Funny how the holes for the ashtrays & tug bar magically heal up Quote

Shambo Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 ah here it is... I should have known this one wouldn't slip by unnoticed. Quote

mart Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 In the second big photo - the one of the back of the bass - what are the wiggly lines running roughly from top right to bottom left? They look a bit like paint runs, or is it just the grain coming through? Quote

It's just a by-product of over-compressing an image, usually as a result of decreasing the colour depth - GIFs are common culprits, but pretty much all formats can suffer from it. Just poor image choice, nothing in the paint job. Quote

TheGreek Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I sent him an Email, pointing him in the direction of the Guitar Data project, but asked him to provide me with the serial No before I would bid - strangely had no contact yet - however if this is a shop I might hear from him tomorrow.. I'll keep everyone apprised.. Quote
TheGreek Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 It didn't sell - not a single bid - the expression "card was well marked" springs to mind... Quote
