Mace
Hey guys Love my X3 Live but a frustration for me has been losing the clarify of some effects that I put in the effects loop... anyone else have the same trouble? Even better, anyone else got a solution?!? I'm on a hiding to nothing I know as I use the L6 Sub Dub amp model which is pretty deep sounding with next to no top whatsoever, I don't really want to put any effects between my bass and the L6 as I use the volume pedal to blend the effects in and out (eg distortions) as opposed to a straight on and off using the footswitch My old Deep Impact was the exception, cut through a treat but my new Source Audio Bass Distortion and BEF hardly make it through the mix?! I was thinking about setting up a loop like this: Bass to 2 channel loop. L6X3 on one side, an FX chain on the other, back into the power stage of my amp (I just use my amp as a power amp as the EQ is done on the L6). My concern with this is that I may lose the delays/tremolos I use on the L6? Am I thinking too hard about this?! Any help much appreciated Ieuan
Dood
Quick question - have you tried altering the levels in the loop block to boost the output a bit? I agree that using models that are bass heavy will mean that any effect with 'top' on it can get lost because you are effectively attenuating the high end. Also try moving the effects loop block 'post' amp simulation verses 'pre' to see if that helps. Your other option is to run the X3 with both signal paths active. Set signal path one as your deep tone described, then set up a more full range patch on signal path two - then assign the effects loop to signal path two, not the bassy signal path one. Use the X3 configuration to mix the two path together and send to your power amp. This is kinda how Billy Sheehan sets up his seperate amps. One for 'super deep low' the other for the top end, effects and distortion. You'll have control over switching the loop in and out via patches and not have to buy additional outboard. I personally wouldn't recommend running other pedals in parallel with the X3 - it's processing delay mixed with an external dry path will result in phasing of the two signal that *can* sound odd. Just a very quick post - if it doesn't make sense I'll expand on it more later!
