Pentode Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 (edited) Ok……. I'd like to shift this to help [s]finance[/s] pay for a certain something. It started off as a fretted Dean Vendetta but as it has a fairly 'mid forward' sound and I fancied it as a fretless I called on Andy Viccars (www.andyviccarscustom.co.uk) to work his magic. Andy replaced the finger board with a lovely slab of ebony and, as has been done to a couple of my other fretlessessessess, installed Bartolini pickups and preamp. This is the result - Weighs in at 3.75kg (8.25lbs). The neck's 37.6mm wide at the nut. The Bart' electronics give a great variety of tones and a fairly hot output. The controls are - - Volume (with Active/Passive push-pull) - Blend - Mid (push pull freq selector) - Treble/Bass Stack. Only downer is that the board is very slightly marked from using roundwounds. Was £475 now [s]£350[/s] £300 including a tatty hard case delivered to an address of your choice within the mainland UK. Thanks to Rob for the photos - Website Cheers Grahame Edited November 14, 2011 by Pentode

Pentode Posted June 1, 2011 Author Posted June 1, 2011 Tell me about it! Cost me over £800 to put together.... Thanks for the 'Good luck with the sale'.
Oldman Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Could you post a full length snap so I can gauge the overall look of the Bass, pernickety I know. Thanks
Pentode Posted August 19, 2011 Author Posted August 19, 2011 (edited) Hi Brian, No problem - The colour isn't accurate in this picture - it's more like the photos at the top. Cheers Grahame Edited October 19, 2011 by Pentode
Evil Undead Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 My face almost fell off when I saw that finish! Stunning. Shame I can't make anything but horrible noises on a fretless
Pentode Posted September 3, 2011 Author Posted September 3, 2011 Oh yes - Quilt Maple.... If you really want to learn to play fretless it's worth persevering for a bit - it's not that difficult to get going although accurate intonation can take a while and a fair bit of practice.

My slightly might be slightly different to yours! Best wishes
Pentode Posted September 16, 2011 Author Posted September 16, 2011 Good point! Here's a photo of the marks on the board at around A on the E string - You can see the marking opposite my thumbnail. The dark marks a bit further up the neck would appear to be grease from my fingers whilst trying to find the scratches - yurrgh sorry! Hope this is ok.
Pentode Posted October 8, 2011 Author Posted October 8, 2011 (edited) Another fifty quid off type bump! (if it doesn't go for £300, I'm cutting it up for firewood this winter...). Edited October 8, 2011 by Pentode
chrismuzz Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Looks beautiful. And everything Andy Viccars touches turns to gold so there's no way anyone will be disappointed with it!
Pentode Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 Thanks Chris! Yes Andy's a smashing guy to know and really takes pride in what he does.
Delberthot Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 That is stunning. Have the side dot markers been move to the fret marker position when the ebony board was added? I've told myself that I'm not having another fretless but I've been listening to quite a bit of vintage Pino lately so one could be on the cards but I need to sell my Thunderbird first
Pentode Posted October 23, 2011 Author Posted October 23, 2011 Hi Derek, Thanks for your interest. Yes, the dot markers are on the 'frets'. Cheers Grahame
