Hi

Anyone seen/tried/tested the Fender Rumble 112 and 2x8 cabs as found here:

Thinking of partnering these up with my Orange Terror Bass 500w for a small and powerful rig - not bad price either.

Any opinions?

Cheers,

Rob

No experience of the cabs I'm afraid. Great price for a lightweight cab.

I've got a Rumble combo which sounds very good. But that's probably not a lot of help :)

It's a 2x10 - Fender Rumble 350.

Only had it for about 3 weeks so can't really give any insight into reliability. I did a fair bit of research before buying and reliability problems didn't come up as an issue. Build quality is very good. I've taken it to 2 practices and the guitarist has been impressed - he's been playing for 30+years.

First time I played it in 'anger' :) I didn't adjust the eq, played it flat, bass was flat and I was very happy with the tone. I'm usually a twiddler.

Although obviously I've only had it a little while, given my experiences thus far, if I'd had more money then I'd would go for the 2x8 and matching head.

Folks,

I'm resurrecting this thread hoping somebody can give some more up to date opinions on the 112 and 2x8 cabs.

Answering my own post to some extent: These cabs are described as "can handle 500W", but a rummage in the BC dungeons uncovers threads suggesting that the cabs are rated at 200W (RMS?).

Please bear in mind that I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Still haven't seen much info on these Cabs also the 350 Head, if anybody has these could they tell me how they compare to a usual rig as in Markbass/Epifani/TC Electronics etc would love to know as I am finishing live playing but still be nice to have a cheap stack at home just incase.

Hiya Steve, hows it going?
As far as 500 watts goes, I think you can safely ignore that as manufacturers hyperbole.
It may handle 500 watts but only for short peaks and not continuous level.
However, watts aren`t everything and a sensitive 200 watts (speaker that is, not like it sulks when you play a Take That tune)can produce plenty of volume in the right cabinet.Especially the 2x8.
So I`d suggest trying one out in person before you buy.

I considered these cabs along with the Laney Nexus 1x15". On paper the Laney was the better cab in almost every way and I'm pretty sure that after using it for the past 9 months it is.

Incidentally I have it for sale, purely cos I want a matching cab for my GK MB210
