xilddx Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 (edited) I changed my mind about importing a white B&B Fender Japan JB66 and paying a fortune in customs, handling and shipping. So I'll be picking this beauty up from John, who seems like a lovely bloke, in a week or two. I am rather excited now I think a pearl white plate would look nice on this, but maybe a bit OTT - what do you think? Edited February 5, 2011 by silddx Quote
Clarky Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Good score Nigel. White pearl would be OTT for my tastes, would prefer an aged ivory/cream scratchplate but its not my bass! Enjoy mate Quote

I actually quite like it, not generally a fan of plain plastic. Quote
bh2 Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 (edited) Cor!... I reckon white pearl would look lovely. Would look great with the covers but I don't think would fit over the bridge. One of the nicest Jazzes I've seen! Edited January 31, 2011 by bh2 Quote
xilddx Posted January 31, 2011 Author Posted January 31, 2011 Hey, thanks gents! I love covers too, but I can't play with the damn things on. Should be an awesome player, John gave me some neck measurements which sound like this neck will be about perfect for me. Quote
Randy_Marsh Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I'd definitely go for the Pearl White pickguard. It'll look like similar to Gary Mac's avatar, put not a US P bass deluxe haha Quote
bubinga5 Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Nice bass Nige.. yes it will look bling with a pearl guard but it will look great too.. i would also be tempted to leave the guard off... Quote
bigjohn Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I've played 2 of those 62RIs and own a 65RI - they're the best basses I've played and I've played some rather nice ones Lovely. Quote
Cat Burrito Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I too would favour aged white but you should try pearloid as well. Best of both worlds. Looks great too btw Quote
Linus27 Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I say a black scratchplate. Really a shame you not getting that white bass. It was stunning. Quote
Ou7shined Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Not a big fan of red basses or pearliod but (with yours being one of the nice reds) I think the two together would look sweet. It helps having Gary Mac's av to look at. Quote
LukeFRC Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 far east guitars... he sold me an amazing '57 ri p bass years back. amazing bass! Quote
geoffbyrne Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Black or cream pearloid would be great, but my choice would be (Yes, I *know* it's not a bass)... G. Quote

(SERIOUSLY - keep a note of my username for future reference if you intend to pass it on later) Quote

niceguyhomer Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 I'd put an aged white pearl or a mint green on that. Lovely bass, reminds me of a Jazz I once owned - that had a mint green pg, here have a look and see what you think... Quote
Lozz196 Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Thats a very nice looking bass, and good to see you coming over to the dark side of Fender. Quote
wateroftyne Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Tort for me too, but you all knew that. Looks nice! Quote
gary mac Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 (edited) Here you go Nige, a better view of my P bass. I've actually been considering changing the pickguard recently, as I feel it's a bit too blingy or maybe a bit too country. Not sure what to do really and can't decide on what colour would actually compliment the paint job. Edited February 1, 2011 by gary mac Quote
