chugster Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 (edited) I've been learning bass for a couple of months and have seen these "Play Along" Book and CD sets. Can anyone tell me if they are any good? Does the CD contain the complete tracks with the bass missing? Any particular recommendations? Thanks! Edited February 4, 2011 by chugster Quote
Bilbo Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Many have versions of tunes with the bass in and with it taken out so you can hear what to do before attempting it. The biggest issue will be what music you like. A jazz play along will do nothing for you if you prefer rock or funk and vice versa. Find one that spearks your interest and dive in... Quote
Doddy Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 I quite like the John Patitucci Ultimate Play Along books. Quote
chugster Posted February 4, 2011 Author Posted February 4, 2011 I'm primarily looking for rock/metal books but will give anything a go! Quote
El Bajo Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Get the Muse and Metallica books. Decent bass lines that aren't to difficult to play. they have CDS with them. Some have the bass coming through on a left or right speaker so you can filter the bass out of required, it should say at the beginning of the book. pop along to your local music shop and have a read, then buy elswhere if its cheaper.
