MattM Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Well as one who dabbles in t'other 6 string side on occaision, and if you're looking at exact guitar type analogies, it'd be as follows. Yer P-bass is the equivalent of a Tele, one great basic, extremely versatile sound and in the right hands can cover loads of options. A Jazz is kinda like a Strat, wee bit extra in the pickup and tonal option bag, and again covers a lot of bases. If you want a Les Paul match on the bass side, a fat, ballsy, rich sound which again in the right hands can be used across the board and is most emphatically NOT a one trick pony then is has to be a 'Ray. Amazing bargains to be had on SC and the 'Bay at the moment, decent ones from £600-750. I've owned P-basses in my time, but loving my 'Ray. Quote
