Thunderthumbs Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Jimmy Earl's self titled CD. Worth getting just for "Pavane Pour une Infante Défunte" alone. Quote
Stuart Clayton Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 I'd recommend Zander Zon's album 'Sonorous'. He's written some really great music that you can enjoy as solo bass, but which you can also enjoy just as music - what I mean, is that it doesn't sound like a typical 'bass' album. Check out his YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/Zander4724 I'd also recommend Michael Manring's 'Soliloquy' too - awesome stuff. Kev Posted February 7, 2011 Author Posted February 7, 2011 Liking Soliloquy alot, having a listen to Trip Wamsley 'it's better this way' online now thanks for suggestions, i'm looking for electric bass rather than DB, particularly solo without other instruments Quote

urb Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 This is a great bass-led album: Kai Eckhardt- Honor Simplicity, Respect the Flow Quote

Obviously not a solo album, but a damn fine album nonetheless Quote
derrenleepoole Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 If you want something a little different, I caught Ralf Gauck at Bass Day and he did a series of arrangements of well known pop tunes on solo bass, mostly Beatles, but some Police too. Nice bloke too: This is probably more of what you're after. He has some CD's out too. Quote
Oscar South Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 (edited) An absolute essential if nobodies mentioned it already, is 'If This Bass Could Only Talk' by Stanley Clarke. A masterpiece of bass guitar history. Edited February 8, 2011 by Oscar South Quote
Rich Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 If you can find it, Jonas Hellborg's 'Elegant Punk'. Quote
