Rayman
Big fan here too. She has a very fluid style, and makes it look effortless. One of the grooviest players alive IMO, Plantation lullabies is always in my car. JimD
That's a great album. But is it Meshell on the first track? There are a couple of guys(including David Dyson) credited, but it doesn't say on which tracks.
Having bought the "Absolute" compilation today, even though I've got just about every track on it apart from the new ones, I can confirm that Me Shell is credited with the bass on "Umm" and "Die Alone". David Dyson is credited for "Brushed With Oil, Dusted With Powder" and David Gamson is credited on "Tinseltown To The Boogiedown". I have a half-baked plan to try my hand at some of the basslines from "Cupid and Psyche '85" - they're mostly synth ones, but might prove to be one hell of a workout ("Absolute" in particular). steverickwood
I was talking to Doddy today about her, as he's just bought the Plantation Lullabies album. I think she's amazing. Her sense of groove is sublime and totally natural. Check out these tracks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpdzEpGIqtY Amazing bassline and sound. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDbRKB7oLEQ Just total groove, playing from the heart.
I think I first spotted her on glastonbury about 12 years ago and just looked up and thought 'what a great vibe and feel - and a cool voice'. So I rushed out and located some of her discs. Tot his day, I cannot pronounce her name correctly more than twice in a row.
dmccombe7
Liked it especially the 2nd track. Never heard of her before. Did note the 2nd bassist on the 2nd track though so who is actually playing bass. ? Still liked it though. Dave

I forgot about this thread though. Didn't Will Lee play on 'Absolute'?

steve-soar
Hmmm.. Can she read?
Probably. Oh, you mean can she read music? Well, I really don't know. She sure has played a lot of gigs and has a lot of people who love her music, not to mention all her videos and everything. I bet you can read music. By the way, I can't stand her music. Edited April 1, 2011 by steve-soar
