UncleMeat
I need to replace all the drivers in my 90s SWR Goliath III 4 x 10. (grey hammered grille, not chrome or diamond shape). I think the originals are PAS or possibly Eminence but exact info is scarce. Thomann do OEM replacement speakers (they're listed as SWR speakers so still don't know what they really are) for £131 each. As I need 4 this is too expensive. I want to get the original speakers, or at least equivalent quality. It belongs to my step father who wants it back as he's playing again (I've been abusing it the past few years), so putting cheapies in there won't do. But surely I can get good enough drivers for less than that?? The Celestion green and orange labels don't cut it, checked the specs and they don't seem to have great excursion. Also, concerned with just getting some really good ones and hoping for the best as they may not be suited to the cab. Ideally I want to know what the original fitment is so I can try to find them elsewhere for cheaper if possible. Any advice from your speaker boffins would be much appreciated! Thanks guys. JTUK
Very hard to get PAS driver info. Companies in the U.S say they have replacement kits but I don't believe these are PAS so cannot be sure how well this works. It would certainly be cheaper in the U.S to mess around with their advertised options ..but not to get them over here, IME. Other companies might say they can recone...but then don't come up with the equiv spec/rating, IME. I contacted PAS/SWR company in Germany but again not cheap. At the time I enquired Fender were in the service loop but that was useless as well. If it were me..I would buy a cheap Goliath 4x10 ll/lll which will be a far better cab, IMV, for him, and then you can keep the old one. They will be as good as, (if not better than new) http://www.wembleyloudspeaker.com/

Fender are useless in my experience too. I am currently looking at a couple of old Goliaths at the moment and might end up doing exactly as you suggest. I'll ring them tomorrow, though the drivers are in a terrible state. Thanks for all your suggestions guys, appreciate it.
JTUK
I doubt they will have the kits and you will probably not get the replacement PAS type chassis you are after, therefore you may as well get new chassis and retune the cab.
