Is it safe to make a Spector Tone Pump JR 18v?

Would it do any damage to it at all?

Cheers[/quote]

Spector documentation suggests that the Tone Pump uses a voltage doubler - essentially, it takes your 9V and turns it into 18V.

If the circuit has an 18V supply applied to it then it will either 1) make no difference because the voltage reglator will 'dump' the voltage it doesn't require or 2) it'll fry the circuit because it has 36V running into it.

The circuit diagram doesn't appear to be available and the unit itself is potted so there aren't any visual clues as to which of the above scenarios is going to occur.

Well, if you blow it up it'll be a total write-off, a Tone Pump module is 100% unrepairable.

You have been warned! :)
