JeSuisSkeleton
As per title. I'm not very clued up on them! Been looking at an EHX Metaphors, but are there any you guys would recommend?
paul_5
I've had a metaphors, and found it a bit noisy as a DI, particularly the compressor. Loads of people I know swear by the Sansamp stuff. A fellow BCer also A/B'ed the Sansamp with one of these: http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/BDI21.aspx got some good recordings from it too, if memory serves. Kev
I'd like to second this request, also looking for a budget DI with good sound quality, any specific suggestions? Certianly looking at double rather than triple figures here
dumelow
i can vouch for the BDI21, i bought a sansamp programmable a few weeks back and sold it on a week later. there are significant differences in build quality but for the price the BDI is well worth a look

dannybuoy
The Behringer BDI21 is a darn good Sansamp knock-off and is only £22 new. If money is tight, it's a no-brainer!
chrismuzz
Keep an eye on pawn shops! I managed to pick up a Sansamp for £60 in Cash Generator a few weeks back. Only thing wrong with it was a couple of scuffs and a missing knob If you have no luck there, or still want something a little cheaper, I also recommend the Behringer BDI21, it's a cheap knock-off but you can achieve the exact same sound with ease
bassmachine2112
behringer at the price and if you like it you can get the sansamp, never leave home without mine, hartke bass attack is good as well but sounds different and hasn,t got true bypass

Yes the Sansamp is built better, but its the sound that matters, and the 121 is sooooo close to the Sansamp, at approx a tenth of the cost. Roland Rock
http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=122874 DHA eq/di.
+1 for the DHA Mine is a different DHA pedal with a DI built in (VT1 EQ bass), but is very good quality for both recording and gigging
paul_5
I'm tempted by a BDI21, as my Ampeg SVP is just too big to keep pulling out and setting up. For £25 what could possibly go wrong? Edit: just picked up a used MXR M80+ this afternoon - lovely. pn_day
Another vote for the DHA - I ended up getting a DHA VT1-Bass drive and a separate muting DI box from Orchid and have been very happy. Both Dave and the chaps from orchid are nice to do business with too. uncle psychosis
Hi guys I'm in a similar position...I don't have a bass amp at home (no space/too lazy to cart one back and forth) but I'd like to be able to practice all the same. I already have a small mixer that I use for recording and so on. I'm kind of tempted by the BDI21 just so that I can plug bass into behringer then into my mixer, use headphones, and get a fairly decent bass tone for practising. What do you think? Also, I've heard some people say that the ADI21 (the acoustic guitar version) is "better" because it has a mid EQ control. Since I play guitar as well I'm kind of tempted by one of these, since it would be more versatile. Anyone got any comments on using the ADI21 with bass? Thanks
