Amp Head Advice?

hi,

i am looking at buying a Bass Head. I play bass in 2 bands. 1 band is a sludge band tuned to B and the other is tuned to c playing more Isis / Opeth style stuff a lot of this is clean with some chorus effects to add a nice ambient vibe.

I was wondering what head people would recommend that would be good for both styles of band?

I really am at a loss as to what to buy, i am on a tight budget though....

any advice?

+1 for Peavey. Im sure you can get a Peavey Tour for about £300
Here you go! just out of your price range brand new but look for a used one or the next one down in the range you'll be laughing.

behringer NO NO NO!!! there are way better options than that!
Ashdown Yes! On both it just depends on how much power you want as as far as im aware they both have the same features!
I used to ahve an ashdown Mag300 combo and it was sweet!
Only ever tried a laney once and it was alright though i still prefered my own
Warwick are generally very good bt again never tried the profet.

IMO Go for the ashdown!

Got to agree with bassboy really, though the Ashdowns are a bit marmite - some people love 'em, others hate 'em. The Laneys I've tried (not any of the RBs) have been ok but don't seem to have any character of their own - nothing to really love or hate about them, just ok.

There's a good deal on the profet 5.1 here at the moment. Insane price - £208 including delivery (be quick - it's a January sale!).
