Ahhh great stuff! Kettle on, ready for a read! :)

Wow! That's brilliant! Love the look of the Carlo Robelli 8-string bass too - kinda looks like a custom version of Brian May's Red Special in bass format!

Actually I waited for that. :) It was my second custom Sei. Every time I see it I think I'd rather like it back someday! :)
There are quite a number of headless basses on the market these days and now Biarnel has the Scorcio headless why not gather them all together in one place. Let's show the disbelievers what they are missing.
Well, as a builder - and as a bassist - I think headless basses are an huge improvement in comfort and ergonomics.
The absence of the headstock means less leverage on your shoulder, smaller cases or gigbags, less mass on your strap.
I can't see any drawbacks :)

..and they're distinctive, too!

We don't need double ball strings anymore, by the way.
They have an alfa romeo pinnin forina flair to them :)
Well, I really hope they don't have the reliability of the '90s Alfa Romeo :)
Too bad they put the PininFarina badge on the 33..

Anyway, back to basses!
As you can see, the body on the 34" model is slightly longer: this, in order to reach the beginning of the neck without stretching your left arm too much.

Here, in the Scorcio 32", the upper horn can be shorter and the whole body is smaller and lighter; in the 34" scale, on the other hand, you need a longer horn for better balance and for the first frets to be closer to you.

They are beautiful, it looks like if you sat them down they'd be resting on their tuners if you didn't have a stand though? Is that an issue?

In my ever so humble opinion. There's just summat about a headless bass that looks wrong. Like its been circumcized or something.

PS (if there was a ducking behind the sofa icon I'd be using it about now) :)

PPS: that ACG Harlot with ebony top that OBBM shows on the first page of this thread is absolutely beautiful and is what I will buy if i ever get a spare few grand, it will definitely have a headstock though :)

Something like a hybrid of these two below.

Thanks for that! TBH, I was never keen on zebrano until I got this, but close-up it is quite something. SEI often seem to have a lovely flame on their necks too.
Oh, and it has blue side l.e.d.s too, but I didn't want to show off...

Sit the bass on the ground without a stand is the worst thing you can do to a bass!
70% of repairs in my shop come from a bass falling for improper "resting".
Anyway, is better to sit it on the metal tuner than on the wood itself!
(issue easily fixed using two strap button..)

Actually (and surprisingly) that neck wasn't classed as a "flamed" neck when I ordered it. We discussed it and for various reasons I went for a "plain" maple, although Martin kindly found the most flamed piece of "plain" maple that he had.

The top on that was destined for a Sei Millenium but I asked very nicely and managed to snag it. Wonderful, wonderful piece of buckeye. I miss it dreadfully (and the blue LEDs!)! :)

Here's my first Sei, also headless, now owned by another very nice chap.

Have you ever played anything hewn from Zebrano?
Don't knock it 'til you've tried it. Makes lots of tonewoods sound a bit.. Flat.

Er, the body on his (my old) bass is made from zebrano (with a buckeye top & maple neck with zebrano stringers). So yes, he has. :)
