mep
A bit of Gaffa tape folded over so it's double sided stuck on your bass, then stick the pick to this.

robocorpse
Grubby strip of gaffa on the bottom horn, slightly overlapping the edge so you can quickly remove a fresh pick in the heat of battle without having to reach for your pocket or your 99p plastic deathtrap "pick holder" that automatically makes you look like a beginner. I change the gaffa about every 10th gig or the picks don't stick so well
daz
sometimes there is a slight gap between your pickups end and the bass body, where a pick can slide in just nice. I have even used that as a thumb rest too.
tauzero
your 99p plastic deathtrap "pick holder" that automatically makes you look like a beginner.
I use one of those for guitar work, stuck on the front of the Variax. I would think that my superb abilities would immediately [s]reinforce[/s] dispel any illusions about me being a beginner. Plus the fact I'm very old, of course. I'm another one who uses the change pocket (as we old ones call them) on my jeans. Could have sworn I took them out the other day, but they turned up in the wash, fortunately not as damaging as the coins and pens which Minus Zero tends to leave in his pockets so Mrs Zero didn't shout at me. I only use plectrum for one song anyway (just can't manage it with fingers). As for the Mono strap, I would point out the words "hidden mini pocket". I don't know about anyone else, but the word "hidden" sets off alarm bells for me.

One on the back of the pick - or the front if you are that way inclined - and one on the bass. I sent some to my mother-in-law – one marked 'top lip' and the other one 'bottom lip'. Tengu
I have one of those plastic, spring-loaded pick holders. Unscrewed the metal belt clip from an old tape measure and superglued that to the back of the holder. It clips very nicely onto the strap, just above the strap holder, and is very convenient when I need to grab a pick during a song. You can take it off and move it to another strap easily and it doesn't leave any nasty residue on the bass itself.
Deep Thought
Mine sit on top of my amp-my Precision has one tucked in behind the scratch plate, but I haven't been able to face doing that with the Shuker. I saw a leather wrist-mounted pick holder on Ebay a few years ago-was quite tempted, but didn't, and I've never seen them since.

I've been working on my pecs 'n' moobs, so they're in tip-top condition for just such an occasion Returning to topic - I don't usually use a pick - maybe in one or two songs only, so generally leave a couple out on top of the amp/cab and grab 'em as required. amnesia
I can feel another thread coming on..."Where do I stick my fingers when I play with a pick?" I play with a pick all the time so luckily I don't have to worry about this sort of thing. Remebering the tunes is hard enough!
