NJE
There is one good shop in Chelters, Aroundabout Sound, the owner is a bass player so usually some good stuff lurking about like some Eden Amps, his 87 Stingray as well as the usual Squiers and Fenders. It won't be open on Sunday though!

Remus Sound in the depths of Barton Street (lock the car doors when you drive through...) has a lot of second hand stuff and can be worth a browse, but not open on sunday.Plenty of hookers and drug dealers though. However, I had time this morning and popped in for a quick look when they opened at 0930. Literally a flying visit as the car was outside on double yellows with the wife at the wheel ! Looked a good store, shame I didn't have more time. Managed to get some knobs for the Thunderbird though so mission accomplished.
pete.young
Vintage strings always looks interesting when I drive past. Unfortunately it also looks closed!
zigmondo
Having lived in Gloucester, Stroud and Stonehouse, I have to say that at last we are decently served: time was I had to go as far afield as Manson's for Vassily to Get Some Relax: Remus are still doing the biz around Barton Street and are still decent. Yes, the area is twinned with Kabul, but hey. Aroundabout Sound is still decent and under the same ownership as ever. Even 200 yds from me in Stonehouse is World Music, which advertises itself as a "high end guitar" shop; oddly I've never been in..so they're keeping the riffraff out. My subjective best and whom I've trusted with at least 2 of my guitars thus far, is Intersound...in Dursley(of all places, you locals might opine). I'm very picky and highly resent half-assed yes-monkeys messing my stuff up: any of the above will do a good job in my experience...and I've been in this part of the world since the early 90s. My highest recommendation is still Intersound, Dursley. Tell'em Shaun said so.
parker_muse
Aroundabout Sound is brilliant as is A Remus. They're the only two worth a visit in Glos/Chelt. Soundhouse is pap as is Millennium Music. Vintage Strings seemed okay when i went in though - but it was only once. Had a very tasty Ric 4001 from the 70's... over 3k though!
