stingrayPete1977 Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 I guess I could give a name of someone cool from my youth but in reality for me and many of us here the bass seed was being planted much earlier by bands (and bassists) we didnt even know. Stuff I wouldnt listen to now as such Duran Duran, Madonna, Madness etc etc etc and for anyone of a similar age to me hearing that stuff for the first time in the early to mid 80's must of got something in the brain subconciously thinking? The same would apply for the generations before hearing the 50's 60's and 70's Popular radio music. Oh go on then Flea Quote

[/quote] That was great, I'd always heard Slade were a great live band but never thought to look them up on the 'tube. Here's one guy I've never heard mentioned on BC and he was my absolute hero in my teens. My dad gave me a tape of I've Got Dem Ol' Kozmic Blues Again Mama when I was 14 and it neatly straddled my love of Soul music and Rock'n'Roll. You couldn't escape just how much heart and soul was coming from Janis but I loved hearing a rock'n'roll band with a properly funky bass player.
