Bass_In_Yer_Face
I've been listening a lot to the late, great Bernard Edwards stuff with Chic & Sister Sledge etc and in Guy Pratt's book 'My Bass and other animals' (love it so far)...he mentions some solo albums by Bernard Edwards.....anybody heard them and what are they like? Hit&Run
Apparently he had a solo album released in 1983 called 'Glad to Be Here'. Presumably released when Chic split. An ironic title with hindsight. I've not heard it though, so I can't comment on what it's like. I imagine it'd be quite rare. Edwards was a bass colossus. I can't wait for Stuart Clayton to release his 'Ultimate Funk & Disco Grooves' book. In my opinion it'll be a 'must own' for groove disciples... and naff bass players like me who want to groove. Book is out at the beginning of March and is looking great. Stu
SJA
I've just got the book "Everybody dance; Chic- the politics of disco". it covers pretty much everything about Nile Rodgers, Bernard Edwards and Tony Thompson. there's a stream/download of a 2hour radio special on Chic/Chic organisation here- http://www.sixmillionsteps.com/drupal/node/

Floyd Pepper
I managed to get a CD of 'Glad To Be Here' from Japan last year for about £20. I'm glad I didn't pay anymore for it as I'm a Bernard fan but far too much 80's synth bass for my liking. I guess it was more about his songwriting then his playing on this album but it's not a patch on the stuff that he did with Nile Rodgers. Cheers, Jim
