blyn
Hi I have just got this very nice sounding Bassman 50. I got it from the original owner, who bought it early 1980. He havent changed the tubes and still had the the reciept It is modified to scandinavian marked by Hagstrom in Sweeden. The tubes says 75-13. Does this mean it is a 1975? The seriealnumber A 72507. Or it it a ´77? can you help me with a more precise dating? Thank you in advance! I have talken some pictures of detail: http://s953.photobucket.com/albums/ae15/ba...nder%20Bassman/ regards Brian
Cat Burrito
My understanding is that for mid to late '70s silverface amps and early '80s "blackface" models, the serial numbers are date encoded much the same way as Fender guitars from the late '70s: A6 + 5-digits - 1976 A7 + 5-digits - 1977 A8 + 5-digits - 1978 A9 + 5-digits - 1979 B + 5-digits - 1975, 1976 F0 + 5-digits - 1980 F1 + 5-digits - 1981 F2 + 5-digits - 1982 F3 + 5-digits - 1983 F4 + 5-digits - 1984 F9 + 5-digits - 1979, 1980 Have you missed a digit off the serial number? It seems to be one short. Unless anyone knows something I don't?

blyn
Hi Thanks for the list with serial number and the link to the Amp page. Very nice! I knew about the serial numbers with same rule as on the basses, but the number on mine, does not fit the description. (If you can open the pictures I linkes to, the second one is a picture of the serialnumber) Maybe another line of numbers for scandinavian models, sold by Hagstrom? The first picture shown the under side of the trafo. Does that tell us something? :-) /Brian
JTUK
Can't help with the dating, but that looks a very good example. I seem to recall I was offered a 135 for £350 a while back.
BluRay
Can't help with the date either - but I am totally jelous of that amp. Same model as my first bass amp (*sigh*) which i bought in junk shop in 1985, and it sounded awesome. I gormlessly traded in for a sh*t solid state combo of some sort (may have been a cougar) because the combo was 100watts and I therefore thought it must be twice as good. What a doofus. A life of bitter regret ensues ...
