NOW WITHDRAWN - Veillette Citron Fretless 4 string

Posted (edited)

I'm selling a number of my basses to raise the funds for a Wal 4 string..

This listing is for my Veillette Citron fretless 4 string - issue No 232 (of just over 250). Ebony fretboard, 24 frets, in Green with a mock Snake/croc strap. Pictures do not do this justice and additional pics can be sent/added to interested buyers.

Formerly owned by Nick (Doctor of the Bass) who I'm sure is happy to give a review of this fine instrument. Since buying it with battered paint work, the bass has been completely stripped, stained, oiled and sealed, new Schaller machine heads installed and set up by Terry Chapman, Luthier - [email protected] - (as used by BCer, Lozz196)...

This is a genuine rare instrument - VC built about 500 instruments during their existence from the late 70s to 1983 of which "about" 250 were basses. There are probably less than 10 in the UK (the red burst in the pics being one of the others). Apparently some were completed and sold after the company folded which went out without serial Nos being recorded. Philw may be able to provide more info as the current UK importer for Veillette basses. Notable users of VC include Tina Weymouth of Talking Heads.

These sell for over $1,000 as Todd Harris will confirm - recently saw one for sale in Europe for 2500 euros - I'm asking £650 which, I believe, is a very fair price for this fine instrument. I invite interested buyers to try and buy before parting with any cash...
Will you ship to the United States? Does it come with hard shell case? [email protected]
Hi Todd

I would ship to the States, if there is no interest in the UK...However with your collection of VCs do you really need another?? (for those who don't know Todd has one of the best collections of VCs in the States..how many do you currently have, Todd??)

The shipping may be a bit expensive - are you willing to bear the brunt of this??

Hard shell case would be included..

Hiya
how can you sell this- it matches your Chesterfield! Citron indeed- sell the Sunburst and stay co-ordinated, :)
seriously though good luck with a fine bass sale, joe

BUMP - I would prefer to keep this fine bass in the UK (remember there are less than 10 here) but if there is no interest here I may have to sell to Todd...

In light of the current financial climate I am prepared to reduce the price of this fine fretless bass - as previously stated, possibly the only one in the UK - now £625 - any further reduction would really hurt..I am open to serious offers...

I love the look of that bass... tempted to offer a straight swap for my Warwick Corvette...
